Organizations

Registered Dental Assistants in Alberta are represented and served by three levels of professional associations each with their own unique roles at the local, provincial and national levels. These organizations complement each other and work most effectively when RDAs support all three levels. Alberta RDAs are strongly encouraged to support our professional associations with annual membership not only to provide them with the resources to advocate for and serve us but also to ensure that the voice of the individual RDA is heard and that we have the benefit of our professions combined talents to draw upon in working on behalf of the profession as a whole at every level.

To work as an RDA in Alberta, the government requires that you obtain an annual practice permit or license from the CADA. The role of the CADA is public protection through licensing, competency requirements, a complaints and discipline process and enforcing legislation that applies to our profession. The Alberta government requires healthcare professionals to fund public protection through annual license fees.
